Staycation weekend fun!

I feel like I just went on vacation! I had such a fun weekend! I've felt like I've needed a break from everyday life so I made it a goal to have a fun filled three days and I did it! First off, I must mention my half marathon I completed on Wednesday! It was a huge accomplishment and I had a great time! I ran the whole 13.1 miles and finished in 2 hours and 15 minutes!

Friday night I went to shoot the tube. This was so much fun! If you live in Utah, you need to go do this now!
This is the before picture.
To shoot the tube, you get inside the pipe, have someone put the boards up and let the water fill to the top. Then the person lets go of the boards which allows the water to shoot you forward. So fun!
After.
On Saturday, David and I drove two hours to go see Spiral Jetty. This is man made and can only be seen when the water is low enough. It was awesome! The water was pinkish-purplish and with it being overcast, the only thing was simply awesome!
This is the view from above. You are able to walk along the rocks around the whole spiral.
Up the road a bit was some posts sticking out of the ground. They looked cool so we explored there as well.
It was definitely worth the four hour drive!
Sunday, mike and I hiked to Red Pine Lake. It was a 7 mile hike round trip, uphill the whole way, but the view was beautiful!
It started raining with one mile to go, so we ran. All in all it was a fun hike. I was glad to do what I really love with the person I love most! Annnnnddd I convinced him to get me an early bday present, hiking sandals! Wahoo!

Hiking

I've been hiking a lot this summer! My favorite hike has probably been to twin lakes! It was gorgeous!
What are some of your favorite hikes in Utah? Leave me a comment so I can check them out!
Rocky Mouth-draper ut. This hike to the waterfall is easy, and takes about 10 minutes! So worth it!
This is up big cottonwood canyon. This is part of the red pine trail.
The view of silver lake from the trail to twin lakes.
Beautiful twin lakes up big cottonwood canyon! This hike was a little harder, but only a mile up from silver lake. Definitely worth it!
On the way to donut falls.
Donut falls. I hadn't done this hike in years! I loved it! So easy and fun! Located up big cottonwood canyon.
Hiking in Cedar City.
Bell Canyon is one of my favorites because its so close, quick, and easy. I love seeing all the ducks and its gorgeous in the summer.
I want to hike up to cecret lake/Albion basin, lake Mary. There are so many in Utah, what are some other favorites?

Cedar City.

Last week, we went with Mike's family to Cedar City for the Shakespeare Festival. I've known Mike a long time and every summer I hear about Cedar. The plays, the family picture, playing bridge for dinner, etc. Being married, this year I was finally invited to go! We had such a good time!
We left on the fourth, with just one stop in Beaver for the giant rocking chair. (Of course) when we got to Cedar, we walked around and checked out the souvenir shop. We went out for pizza for dinner and then saw our first play, The Tempest. It was really good! The actors were all great and we even had a real storm. The theatre was outside and during the first half of the play it started to downpour. We were moved inside for the remainder of the first part, but luckily got to go back to the outdoor theatre after intermission.
On Friday, we saw a matinee of Anything Goes. We all loved it! So witty and kept us laughing the entire time! Tap dancing sailors can be pretty entertaining. After the show, we got Hawaiian style shaved ice which was delicious! And then Mike and I went back to our room to watch TWD marathon. (We did this between each play. Call us obsessed) That evening we saw Love's Labour's Lost. This was still a good play, but wasn't my favorite. Although, the fudge we got to eat while we watched it sure was tasty!
On Saturday, we woke up and went on a "hike" which was really more of a walk, with some of his extended family. After the hike, we went out to eat just the two of us, which is a treat! To cafe rio. So delicious! Next, was the bridge game to determine where the whole family would go for dinner. Our room was the biggest, so everyone came over to play. We had two games going. I took fourth in my game. It was fun playing with everyone and learning how to play to begin with. Anna won and chose to go to a delicious Japanese steak house restaurant. So yummy! Family pictures time! The whole group crowded together to take the infamous picture! To end the evening, we saw King John. Of all the plays we saw, this was my least favorite. Go figure, it was a tragedy.
All in all, we had a wonderful time. The trip didn't seem long enough, but it was so nice to get away! We already have our tickets for next year, so looks like I need to brush up on my Shakespeare.
